LHS Evacuated, Searched Following Bomb Threat

Officials said the high school was evacuated Friday and no immediate threat was found.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, no immediate threat was found. Police officials said they are still investigating.

The district has received calls like this in the past, it said, but treats every call with the same level of importance.

“We take all threats seriously,” the district told Lindenhurst Patch. “There’s a protocol to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the students.”

As per protocol, police and fire departments were called, and the building was evacuated, the district said.

Personnel from both departments “searched the building and found it to be clean,” said the district. “The students were sent back to class.”

Students, teachers and staff finished out the day before spring recess in normal fashion, and students were dismissed at regular time, according to the district.
