Lindenhurst Brothers Fly Like Eagles
Brothers Matthew and Luke Schweider of Lindenhurst and Troop 183 have achieved Eagle Scout status.

A pair of brothers from Troop 183 recently achieved Eagle Scout status - a goal for many scouts, but one only a small percentage actually attain.
Brothers Matthew and Luke Schweider of Lindenhurst were also honored by Suffolk County Legislator and Deputy Presiding Officer for completing the journey that leads to the highest award in scouting.
Matthew provided sustained leadership in his troop and community, according to a press release from Horsley's office about the brothers' Eagle Scout acheivement.

He completed an Eagle Service Project that included research, planning, fabrication and delivery of planter box benches for the ’s newly renovated courtyard. He also provided flowers for the planters.
Luke exhibited personal growth by demonstrating his commitment to live by the tenets of the Scout Oath and Law, according to the same release.

For his Eagle Service project Luke hosted two one-day youth soccer clinics where skills were taught, games were played and mentoring was provided from older players.
In addition, he collected soccer equipment for Cleats for Bare Feet. which, in turn, sent equipment to young soccer players in Jamaica who nwo have the opportunity to learn the sport.
Many Schweider family members, friends and peers in Troop 183 attended the brothers' recent Eagle Court of Honor.
