Video: Lindenhurst Couple Makes History at Town Hall

After they obtained a marriage license at the clerk’s office in the Town of Oyster Bay on Tuesday, July 26, the couple was among several who tied the knot at the municipal office on Thursday morning.

“I grew up there [in the Town of Oyster Bay], but this is where their doing ceremonies, so we’re getting married here,” Manzano said.

Babylon Town Clerk Carol Quirk married the couple on July 28 while Christie Drebotick stood up for her friend Manzano and Reinaldo Montanez stood for his cousin Victor. Amparo Sadler, her husband, Bill, and grandkids, Jerricka and Casey, also shared the happy occasion. Sadler is the mother of Montanez’s best friend who wasn’t able to make it because of work.

Their nuptials are among many across Long Island and New York State that have taken place after couples were able to legally and this week in New York State under the new Marriage Equality Act.

The bill was passed by the New York State Legislature and signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo on June 24.
