'Brave Volunteers': Lindenhurst FD Hosts Hurricane Relief Send-Off
The fire department is hosting a gathering to show appreciation for those delivering supplies to Hurricane Helene victims today at 5 p.m.

LINDENHURST, NY — The Lindenhurst community rallied to help victims of Hurricane Helene and the Lindenhurst Fire Department is hosting a gathering to send off "brave volunteers" preparing to deliver supplies to North Carolina.
Helene not only damaged coastal areas that routinely see impacts from hurricanes but also devastated mountainous areas like western North Carolina on an unprecedented level. CNN reported 56 deaths in North Carolina, 30 in South Carolina, 25 in Georgia, 11 in Florida, four in Tennessee and two in Virginia. Hundreds more are missing, as emergency relief has not reached all residents in need.
At 5 p.m. today, Lindenhurst community members will gather at the Lindenhurst Fire Department Station 6 to say thank you and farewell to a group of volunteers getting ready to deliver hurricane relief supplies to North Carolina on Friday.
