Nassau County officials announced on Wednesday a plan to ask Nassau residents via referendum to approve $400 million in bonds to construct a new arena for the New York Islanders, as well as a ballpark for a minor league baseball team.

• Should taxpayer dollars be used to fund the construction of new sports venues?
