Suffolk Assisted Living Facility Resident Loses $10K In Debit Card Theft By Aides: PD

Police allege two healthcare aides used a resident's debit card to withdraw cash and make unauthorized purchases.

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — A health aide from Lindenhurst is one of two women accused of using a debit card belonging to a resident of an assisted living facility in East Northport to make unauthorized purchases, Suffolk police said Tuesday.

The resident lost more than $10K, detectives said.

Tekina England, 38, of Lindenhurst, a healthcare aide at Birchwood Suites Assisted Living, used a resident’s debit card to make a cash withdrawal from an ATM on June 1, police alleged.

Marisol Garcia, 19, of Inwood, who is also a healthcare aide at the facility at 423 Clay Pitts Road, used the same debit card to make unauthorized purchases between May 13 and July 10, police alleged.

Garcia was arrested on Oct. 19, and England was arrested on Monday, police said.

They each face a charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
