Lindy HS Grad Earns Graduate Degree in Social Work
Lindy alum serves as director of the Boys & Girls Club of Glen Cove.

A 2006 graduate of Lindenhurst High School has earned her Master's Degree from Touro College Graduate School of Social Work in New York City.
Sara Laskow, who now serves as program director at the Boys & Girls Club of Glen Cove, has earned a master’s degree in social work from the Touro College Graduate School of Social Work in New York City.
A student member of the National Association of Social Workers and a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, she graduated with a grade point average of 3.9 and expects to earn certification as a Licensed Master of Social Work from Touro in August.

In 2010, Laskow received a bachelor of science degree in childhood education from the State University of New York, College at Oneonta. Scoring a grade point average of 3.8, she earned all-college honors, and appeared on the dean’s list.Â
As program director at the Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club, Sara Laskow supervises 12 part-time staff, and develops and administers leadership-oriented, after-school programs for youth between 5 and 18 years of age. She coordinates daily program schedules, and plans and implements special events and field trips.

As part of her course of study at Touro, Laskow obtained grant funding from the National Boys & Girls Club of America that helped expand health-related programming at the Glen Cove center.
Her time at Touro has also included service as a student intern at the Melillo Center, a Glen Cove-based, outpatient mental health clinic providing treatment for adults with mental illness. Laskow conducted individual and group therapy in support of a caseload of 16 clients.
She also served as an intern at the Nassau BOCES Career Preparatory High School in Westbury, a head teacher at the Huntington Learning Center in Bay Shore, and a student teacher at Mandalay Elementary School in Wantagh.
