Lindy Woman Airlifted to SBMC after Being Hit by Vehicle

Catrina Forest was struck Friday night on Montauk Highway and suffered 'serious injuries,' said Suffolk Police, who are investigating the incident.

A young woman was struck on East Montauk Highway Friday night in Lindenhurst by a vehicle that reportedly left the scene, causing her to be airlifted to Stony Brook Medical Center.

Suffolk Police identified the approximately 22-year-old female as Catrina Forest of Lindenhurst. She suffered was police are calling “serious injuries.”

According to police, Forest was crossing Montauk and was struck in front of . The lone vehicle, police said, “was traveling eastbound in a westbound lane” when she was hit.

Several witnesses allegedly saw the vehicle that hit her leave the scene, according to police and fire officials who responded. The SCPD First Precinct is investigating the incident.

When Rescue Squad arrived on the night of June 17, Forest appeared to have suffered mostly internal trauma.

“She had trauma to the head and abdomen,” Chief James Gallagher told Lindenhurst Patch. “She was unconscious for a while, later regaining it, but was in and out.”

LFD Rescue treated and prepped her for transport as aviation was required to the scene.

“They did a fantastic job, as they always do,” added Gallagher, who noted that instead of landing in the parking lot off Park Avenue on the Lindenhurst side, the medevac helicopter landed in the parking lot behind National Wholesale Liquidators on the other side of the street in West Babylon.

“I confirmed it, and we changed it because the LA Fitness lot had lights; the other did not and was more open. West Babylon was notified of the change,” said Gallagher.

Forest was airlifted to Stony Brook Medical Center, where Saturday she was listed in stable condition, according to hospital officials.
