LMS Makes Backup Graduation Plans

Principal Frank Naccarato will try and get the LMS graduation done tonight at 6:30 p.m.; he's also modified tomorrow morning's backup plan.

After rain last night’s , the school will try again at 6:30 p.m. at the field.

According Principal Naccarato today, he’d like to have , but the has changed slightly.

“Tonight we’ll try to have it at 6:30 p.m. on the field,” Naccarato told Lindenhurst Patch. “Normally, if it’s raining at about 5-5:30 p.m., we’ll call it. If it’s called, then it’ll be at 9 a.m. outside on the field to give parents another shot.

“However, if it rains again tomorrow morning, then I have no other choice than to bring it inside without the parents because the high school graduation is tomorrow night and it’s the last day of school,” he explained.

To accommodate the showers and thunderstorms in the forecast this afternoon and this evening – and the next few days, according to weather reports – Naccarato said the school will “manipulate the ceremony” so that the graduation portion is at the front and the speeches are at the back.

“And if the speeches don’t happen, then they don’t,” he said, adding, “And it looks like we’ll do that tonight because I’m nervous – it looks like we’re going to get some thunderstorms starting at about 3 p.m. today, though tomorrow looks better.”

Naccarato’s back-up plans are designed to help the parents who’d like to be able to see their eighth-graders graduate in the formal ceremony.

Tonight – and tomorrow morning, should the backup to the backup has to take place – parents will be able to file into the bleachers to see their eighth-graders graduate.

“But once the bleachers are filled, then we’ll have to close them for safety reasons,” said Naccarato, who noted that no tickets will be needed for tonight’s rescheduled ceremony.
