Man Attempts Robbery at Rockstar Tans

An unknown man attempted to rob Rockstar Tans on North Wellwood Avenue on Tuesday evening, setting off a manhunt by Suffolk County Police.

A Suffolk County police spokesperson told Patch an unknown man entered the tanning salon at 288 North Wellwood Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The man displayed a weapon and demanded cash, but fled a short time later.

Police searched soon after by helicopter over the entire neighborhood surround the storefront, but did not find the suspect.

The suspect was described to police as a white male with a slim build, probably between 25 and 30 years old and an average height. He was wearing grey sweatpants.

Suffolk County Police are continuing to search for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-(800)-288-TIPS. All calls are kept anonymous.
