May 16 Lindy Edition

Welcome to another busy week! Nationally, NASA prepares once again for the final launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour, led by Captain Mark Kelly. His wife, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head in January, landed midday Sunday to witness this second take of the shuttle’s final launch, and the penultimate launch of the shuttle program.

It was originally scrubbed April 29 – the same day Prince William and Princess Catherine wed – due to an electrical problem that’s now been fixed. The launch is set for today at 8:56 a.m. EDT.

Locally, Monday is full of activities, and today kicks off a week that includes a school budget vote and a community forum.

Also of note for many Lindy residents: Today is International Metalheads Day. Get your metal on!

Now, here’s today’s list:

1. ’s Kindergarten Tea starts at 9:30 a.m.

2. The Town of Babylon will host a at the Annex auditorium from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

4. There will be a few happening:

• The Varsity Boys team will be away at Walt Whitman , while the JV Boys Baseball team will take on Walt Whitman at home
• The JV Boys Lacrosse team will taken on Middle Country at home

5. There are several events happening at the , including a discipline workshop for parents starting at 7 p.m. Details are on the LML website.
