The end of the work week is here, at least for most of us, and it ends with several events today, tonight and this weekend that should pique your interest.
Those events include a celebration of motherhood this weekend, with Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 8.

1. The Town of Babylon will hold its on at Pond on East Sunrise Highway. Running until 2 p.m. rain or shine, the event will showcase the Department of Environmental Control’s environmental programs. There will be giveaways and raffles for energy-saving home goods.

2. In addition, the Witness Project of Long Island will also hold its annual event at the Babylon Town Hall Green and surrounding the pond to raise breast cancer awareness in African American communities.
3. There are several events happening at the , including Mother’s and Father’s Day Surprises at 4:15 p.m. today and Drop in Art Saturday at 10 a.m. Details are on the LML website.

The Varsity Girls Softball team will take on Islip at home , while the JV Girls Softball team will take on Commack at home The Varsity Boys team will take on West Babylon at home , while the JV Boys Lacrosse team will be away at West Babylon The Varsity Boys Track will be at Relays tonight and at Invitational Saturday. The Varsity Boys team will at Copiague Saturday, while the JV Boys Baseball team will take on Copiague at home Saturday.

7. In nearby West Babylon, Fire Department Engine Company Eight is holding featuring Psychic Medium Robert Hansen. Tickets are $50, which includes light refreshment, dessert and door prizes, and proceeds will go the engine company.
