New Lindy School Budget Adoption Date Scheduled
Board of Education now expected to cast a vote on the adoption of expenditures next Wednesday.
After delaying a vote on the current draft school budget, the Lindenhurst Board of Education said on Thursday that it will vote to adopt the expenditures next Wednesday. Once approved, the proposed budget will be go before voters on May 17.
Last week the BOE announced it was , pushing back the budget process as talks continued with the teacher’s union, TAL, one of five school district employee units in negotiations with the board. The talks are still on-going, according to the .
The final budget workshop and special meeting will start at 8:30 p.m. at the auditorium, according to the district, which posted a notice on its website.

Superintendent Richard Nathan said at the most recent budget hearing that New York State requires all school districts to adopt a budget by the third week of April, noting, “ it must be set within the next two weeks.”
In fact, the dates to remember portion of the meeting agenda – listed below – didn’t include a new date for finalization, which was originally scheduled for March 31, nor one for adoption, which was supposed to occur last night.

Those dates to remember are shown below in a table. It includes the newly scheduled meeting to adopt expenditures, as well as the upcoming board of education meetings, community forums and PTA meetings originally listed. Dates go through the end of the year in June.
It also notes the date of the school budget vote, which is May 17. That night there will also be community forum at 8 p.m. at McKenna.
Spring recess is also listed, and it was noted at the meeting that school is open April 25 due to snow days in January.
The superintendent further noted he’ll be attending the Senior Citizens’ Prom at the Saturday. It starts at 4 p.m.
