North Lindenhurst Car Crash Sends Three to Hospital
Occupants of both cars cut out; one airlifted.
A white Porsche and another black sports car collided on Straight Path in North Lindenhurst Wednesday night, sending the occupants of both cars to the hospital.
The crash – which occurred a few minutes after 9 p.m. on June 15 just outside the on Straight Path – also caused Suffolk Police First Precinct officers to close the road between North Wellwood Avenue and Union Road while the occupants of both cars were freed by the NLFD.
“They were extricated using HRUS tool,” NLFD Deputy Chief Baranowski told Lindenhurst Patch following the rescue.

The tool was able to cut through the roofs of the Porsche, which appeared to have sustained damage on the driver side, and the other sports car, which appeared to have front-end damage.
A total of three people, all adults approximately in their 30s, were injured in the crash. The NLFD treated them, and a medevac unit was called to the scene, landing at nearby on Wellwood.

“The driver of the Porsche was airlifted to Stony Brook Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the other car were transported in good and stable condition to Good Samaritan Hospital,” said Deputy Chief Baranowski.
First Precinct officers on the scene said the cause of the crash was unclear, but detectives and the crime scene unit were not required to the scene – only two trucks to clear the wrecked cars.
One officer, who did not give his name, told Patch, “At this point we’re not sure what happened. One car made an erratic move…It was possible the operator of the white car had a medical issue.”
The SCPD reopened Straight Path a little more than an hour after the accident, after the cars and the debris were removed from the road while neighbors who live on and near the crash site watched.
