A on the roof of a commercial-use building in North Lindenhurst on Saturday night is under investigation.

The landlord of the building, Stephen Goldring of STJ Holdings, told Lindenhurst Patch on Sunday afternoon the fire was contained to the roof of the back portion of the building, and no heavy damage was sustained.

According to Goldring, the building houses several business, including an orthotics lab - STJ Orthotic Services, Incorporated - a CB and marine radio repair business, a swimwear fabric company and The Wellwood Pigeon Store.

The pigeon store has been in North Lindenhurst for the past 40 years, said employee Sal Matarazzo, who noted the store opened up on Sunday morning, business as usual.

The lock that was being installed by the landlord on Sunday afternoon had nothing to do with the fire the night before, he noted.

This is the store's third location in North Lindy, Matarazzo added. It sells supplies and feed for those who keep pigeons, as well as feed for rabbits and birds - but no live pigeons or other animals.
