Schuelein Begins New Post as LHS Assistant Principal
Derek Schuelein takes over Lindenhurst High School position left by Al Cirone.

The has hired Derek Schuelein as the new assistant principal of the .
He replaces , who left of at the end of the school year in June, after serving as assistant principal at the LHS since 2005 and, prior to that, as coordinator of practical arts for career and technical education in the district.
Schuelein’s new post was recently recognized at Lindenhurst Board of Education’s at the where the board Ed Murphy, Jr., and Donna Hochman, president and vice president, respectively.

Schuelein spoke briefly with Lindenhurst Patch following the meeting about his new position and his background.
“I’m excited to be joining the administration team here. They’re fantastic, and everyone seems to work together well here. I’m ready to jump right in,” shared Schuelein, who graduated from Penn State College of Education in 2002, and comes to the district from Jane Addams CTE High School.

“It’s a Career Technical Education school, similar to BOCES, in the Bronx,” Schuelein explained.
He was an assistant principal at Jane Addams for the past three years – one of several at the school.
“I’ve worked with students at all levels, and I was the school’s ‘master scheduler’ before I was an assistant principal,” Schuelein said. He also previously taught social studies.
Schuelein began his new position as of July 6.
