Suffolk DA: Lindenhurst Woman Indicted for Vehicular Assault

Cathleen Wild, 28, faces vehicular assault, DWAI and other charges, according to the office of Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota.

A Lindenhurst woman who struck three teenagers last August while allegedly driving impaired on drugs pleaded not guilty at her February 27 arraignment on a grand jury indictment in Suffolk County Court, according to the office of county District Attorney Thomas Spota.

The three 16-year-olds were crossing Grand Boulevard at West Sixth Street in Deer Park when, according to police, they were struck by a 1997 SUV driven by 28-year-old .

Suffolk County Police originally arrested Wild on August 7, 2011. Wild was held overnight for arraignment on August 8 at First District Court in Central Islip and was originally charged with DWAI and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle.

Now, according to DA Thomas Spota's office, Wild's charged with two counts of vehicular assault in the second degree, two counts of assault in the second degree, one count of third-degree assault, one count of driving while under the influence of drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.

According to police, Wild was traveling in her 1997 GMC Jimmy westbound on Grand Boulevard when a group of teens crossed Grand Boulevard at West Sixth Street at approximately 11:45 p.m. that Sunday night last summer. All three of them, police said, were struck by Wild’s vehicle.

Paulino Harrington, 16, of Deer Park, was airlifted to and was listed in serious but stable condition.

Thomas Pirrone, 16, and Gabrielle Ferraro, 16, also both from Deer Park, were transported to in West Islip with non-life threatening injuries.

DA Spota's office said that following Wild's arraignment on Monday on the aforementioned grand jury indictment, Judge John Toomey set cash bail for Wild at $25,000.
