Village Board Reappoints Members, Sets Meetings

The board, led by Mayor Tom Brennan, meets for its annual reorganization meeting to make official several reappointments and resolutions.

The Village of Lindenhurst Board of Trustees met this week at for its reorganization meeting where it reappointed several members of the various boards, and set its meeting schedule for the year.

The board also spoke about and the at the same meeting, as reported by Lindenhurst Patch.

The board also established standard monthly hours for elected and appointed officials, in accordance with the NYS and local employees’ retirement system guidelines that require standard work days for elected officials. The table below outlines those that were established at the meeting.

In addition, the board set the village’s fiscal year once again for March 1, 2011 to February 29, 2012, and re-established that it’ll meet the first and third Tuesday of each month except for July and August. The table below lists all of the meetings, which will be held at the village hall, unless otherwise noted.

Several of the meetings will be at 2:30 p.m., while the majority will be at 7:30 p.m.

“We try to have several meetings in the afternoon a year so that seniors who can’t come in the evening can attend,” noted Trustee Mike Lavorata.

The board also established that residents with disabilities who wish to attend a regularly scheduled village board meeting but cannot access the second-floor village courtroom could request it be held at a handicapped-accessible location.

Such requests must be made a minimum of 10 days prior to any scheduled meeting via the village clerk’s office.

Mayor Tom Brennan also put forth that J.P. Morgan Chase Manhattan Bank, Citibank, Capital One Bank and New York Cooperative Liquid Securities Systems (NYCLASS) be designated as the official depositories of Lindenhurst. The motion was unanimously carried.

In addition, the board set the official mileage reimbursement for the use of private vehicles on official village business at $0.505 per mile.

It also reaffirmed it sexual harassment and American with Disabilities employment policies, as well as its investment policy for the village and purchasing policy for goods and services for the village – the full text of each one is available for review in the office of the village clerk-treasurer.
