VOL Board: Public Hearing Set, Building Permit Fees Raised

The Lindenhurst village board also approves cell tower application at latest meeting.

The Board set a public hearing on taxation for the elderly, discussed cell towers and raised building permit fees at its most recent .

The public hearing the set for at is for “taxation/tax relief for the aged.”

Mayor Tom Brennan explained: “It’s a village law, [so] seniors would apply to the village. Seniors making less than a certain amount are entitled to get a certain percentage of their village taxes back.”

The also approved an application by T-Mobile for a cell tower at 430 Montauk Highway, just west of South Broadway. It previously denied an application for a T-Mobile tower on Travis Street.

“They never came back to us on that,” said Brennan. “The ideal spot would actually be in the railroad parking lot in back of the taxi stand.”

The board also approved raising building permit fees to $100 for the first $1,000 of construction, and $15 for every $1,000 of construction thereafter.

Brennan assured that the increase approved at the June 7 meeting was comparative to other villages and towns.
