Volunteers at St. John's Lutheran Church Recognized
Legislator Horsley congratulates those who give their time at the Lindenhurst church's food pantry.
Volunteers at the food pantry at in Lindenhurst were recently recognized for their work and contribution to the neighborhood.
“Hunger knows no boundaries. It affects people who live and work in our community, as well as our school children,” said Suffolk County Legislator in a release about the ’ work.
The legislator recently commended them for their commitment to the community.

“Many of our residents live from paycheck to paycheck. Our seniors who live on Social Security alone often struggle to make ends meet. We’re fortunate to have members of our community who freely give of their time allowing St. John’s food pantry to operate. I commend them for their generosity and dedication” added .
He was able to secure funding which allows the food pantry to assist Lindenhurst’s neediest residents, noted the release, thereby providing those residents with everyday staples and holiday food baskets.

Among the volunteers Horsley thanked were Beverly Meserole, Ruth Feraca and Bob Stein, director of the food pantry.
The food pantry is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Food pantry officials recommend visitors use the entrance on Dover Street. For more information residents can call 631-226-1274.
