4 Middle School Students Win Prestigious Science Competition

The students created a project where an artificial eye mimics real eye function using artificial intelligence.

LIDO BEACH, NY — Four students at Long Beach Middle School are regional winners at the world's largest science competition.

Sixth graders Eward Grossman, Cole O’Connor, Sam O’Donoghue and Sullivan Limmer developed a project where an artificial eye mimics real eye function using artificial intelligence and a microchip as a connection point.

"Visionary" aims to integrate artificial components like the retina, pupil and lens, building on past prototypes, with advancements in AI and microchip technology needed to make it a reality.
