Public Transportation
Buses are running their normal routes.
Home Inspections
The red, yellow and green tags are just a damage assessment, says Communication Director Gordon Tepper.
It's just a damage assessment. This does not mean that people can return to their homes at this time. Transformers are down. They need to be rebuilt and once this is done, an electrical inspection must be completed at each home.
This doesnt mean that once this is done residents can get power. Until other homes on the same grid are fixed, LIPA can't turn on power to restored homes due to the risk of fire.
Those who have relocated will eventually be notified by city workers.
Utility Crews
Fifty utility crews from Verizon to LIPA working around the city working on various tasks.
Ice Rink
People should visit the Ice Rink for all necessities, including baby food, blankets, batteries, etc.
LBPD
A lot of the officers live in Long Beach and lost their homes. According to Tepper, some are not currently working and others are driving different vehicles around the city.
