Feb. 10: Ladies' Night Out, Open Houses, Calendar Revamp

Visit Patch each morning to get the scoop on what's happening in Long Beach.

Rise and shine, Long Beach. There’s a lot going on, both in the city and right here on your local Patch. Here are five things you should know before starting your Thursday:

1. Ladies, it’s your night out. Head on over to Lola’s Kitchen & Wine Bar where girls can have dinner for $15 and bottles of wine and pitchers of Sangria go for the same price.

2. Searching for a starter home or simply to upgrade? Check in later when we post one of our more popular features with readers, House Hunts. Each Thursday this real estate column lists a diversity of open houses in the city on Saturdays and Sundays.

3. Patch’s Moms Talk Q&A forum kicked off yesterday, as members of our Moms Council answered the question: How can you help your child deal with bullies? Go check it out, weigh in with your thoughts and return each Wednesday when the Moms Council answers a new parenting-related question. Got a one you’d like them to consider answering? E-mail your question to josephk@patch.com.

4. We’re starting to revamp our calendar of events to make it more robust. Do you have a garage sale you want to publicize? Are you putting on a fundraiser? Perhaps you're staging a concert somewhere in the city? E-mail us your event (don’t forget the who, what, when, where and contact info) and we’ll consider listing it: josephk@patch.com.

5. Yes, Patch publishes letters to the editor. Just yesterday we posted two letters from readers, one on the dangers of walking across Park Avenue near the train station; the other by an enthusiastic spectator of the Polar Bears’ swim. Maybe you want to weigh in about an issue in Long Beach, or perhaps you want to sound off about something we wrote? E-mail us a letter (maximum 350 words) and we’ll consider posting it: josephk@patch.com
