Feb. 23: Arts Camp, Moms Talk, Business Networking

Find out what's going on in Long Beach today.

It’s the middle of winter break and here’s what’s going on in Long Beach this Wednesday:

1. Earth Arts is holding an arts camp all week in which kids ages 5 and up gain instructions on how to explore and create with clay. Boys and girls can still get in on individual day classes, starting at 11 a.m., for $30 a session.

2. The Long Beach Library has a few programs for children: third-grade booksnackers features Jack Drake Know it All by Andrew Clements, a book about Jack’s quest to beat his extremely smart classmates in a contest, starting at 5:30 p.m.; and chess master Joel Salman will instruct a chess class for kids in second grade and up starting at 7:15 p.m.

3. Each Wednesday Patch features a Moms Talk forum. Today, our Moms Council and local parents take on a more localized question on what to do with your kids in Long Beach during winter break. Make sure you come back today at 1 p.m. to join the discussion and perhaps makes some suggestions.

4. Aspiring thespians, especially seniors, can partake in an acting workshop at the Magnolia Senior Center starting at 10:30 a.m. Novices are welcome at this workshop that will include improvisation.

5. Professionals and business owners, listen up! Each Wednesday the Allegria Hotel hosts a networking event for socializing and handing out business cards over music and appetizer specials starting at 4 p.m.
