1. Get ready for the first Folk-2-Funk Festival this weekend. Both the Long Beach Library and Lola’s Kitchen & Wine Bar will host this three-day festival, the brainchild of Johanna Mathieson-Ellmer, director of Artists in Partnership. The music starts at the restaurant-bar on Friday evening, Feb. 11, and culiminates at the library on Sunday, Feb. 13. The festival is open to all and, best of all, it’s free! 2. The romantic weekend starts early at St. Mary's of the Isle Roman Catholic Church when the parish holds at a Valentine's Day dinner dance that includes ballroom and line dancing at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12.  Tickets are $25 each and may be purchased at the parish rectory.

3. Artists and photographers can learn about West End Arts and their activities during the group's monthly meeting at the Magnolia Senior Center at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13. For more information, visit WEA's website, call 516-897-9466 or 516-603-5116, or email: westendarts@yahoo.com.

4. Just in time for Valentine's Day, there’s a scrapbooking and card making seminar at Hampton Inn in Rockville Centre, on Saturday, Feb. 12. Scrapbooking is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $22, card making from 5 to 8 p.m. and costs $27. These are creative and fun classes to help you make a special gift.

5. In the spirit of Valentines Day, a Daddy-Daughter Sweetheart Dance will be held at United Skates of America Roller Skating, at 1276 Hicksville Rd. in Seaford, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13. Girls of all ages are invited to spend the evening with a father, grandfather, older brother or anybody special. Call ahead for tickets: $40/pair, $15 each additional daughter.
