Jan. 21: Paint in Pastels, Kids Roller Skate for Free

Here's what's happening in Long Beach on Friday.

Friday has arrived and with it comes a predicted 2 to 6 inches of snow in Long Beach. But as you break out the shovel and snow blower, remember there are other things happening today. Here’s what you need to know:

1. Meet with the Long Beach Art League and learn to paint in pastels with Marsha Leviton starting at 1 p.m. at the Magnolia Senior Center.

2. Later today on Long Beach Patch, we’ll feature a story on the City of Long Beach’s hiring of a former City Council member, a move that has come under scrutiny by some.

4. While the Long Beach High School girls’ basketball team (2-8) plays host to Carey at 4:30 p.m., the boys’ basketball team (5-5) tips off at the same time at Carey.
