Jan. 31: Introducing PatchCast, City Tax Deadline, East A

Each morning, visit Patch to find out the five things you need to know about Long Beach for the day — or weekend. Here are the top five things you need to know for Monday:

1. Patch rolls out a new feature called PatchCast, a daily video with news from Long Beach and neighboring Patch towns. Make sure you return later and check it out.

2. Have you paid your City of Long Beach tax and your water and sewer bill? Today is the last day you can do so without penality. If you haven’t already made those payments, head over to City Hall before tonight.

3. Movie lovers can stop by the Long Beach Public Library for a showing of East A, a movie about a clean-cut high school student who relies on the school's rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing, starring Emma Stone and Amanda Bynes. Rated PG-13.

4. East End residents, it’s sanitation pickup day, so put your garbage curbside.
