June 8: Farmer's Market, Jobs Fair, Surf Demo

Get the scoop on what's happening each weekday in Long Beach.

Patch gives Long Beach readers five things they need to know each weekday morning, including events and activities ranging from sports to the arts to fundraisers. Here’s what’s happening today:

1. Wednesdays in the summer translates into the Farmer's Market at Kennedy Plaza from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You'll find everything from fresh fruit and vegitables to wine and homemade honey.

2. Are you unemployed or looking to change jobs? Nassau County will hold a job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, where about 100 employers will be looking for potential applicants to fill a wide range of jobs. Don't forget to bring your resume.

3. Global Surf Industries and Sundown Surf Shop will host a surf demo at Lido Beach West from 5 to 8 p.m. Look out for the GSI flag and go test out the latest shapes from all of GSI's brands and get expert advice from the Sundown Surf crew.

4. There will be a introduction to kettlebells class at  Long Beach Fitness, at 48 E. Park Ave., from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. This class will teach 5 basic exercises.
