Letter to the Editor: Thank You, Auxiliary Police
Councilman Anthony Santino acknowledges the work of the Fourth Precinct volunteer unit.

This letter was submitted to the editor by Town of Hempstead Councilman Anthony Santino.
Not a day goes by when the men and women of the Nassau County Police are ably assisted by the auxiliary police. Volunteers who make up the auxiliary police go above and beyond for our community every day. Auxiliary officers selflessly put themselves before others and help keep our community safe.
Given the size of the Nassau County Auxiliary Police Department, there are many officers who deserve our thanks. But none more than the officers and members of the Fourth Precinct Auxiliary Police. Led by its commanding officer, Captain Danny Gluck, this auxiliary unit was Nassau County’s most honored unit this year.

Countless commendations and citations were presented to officers ranging from length of service awards to amount of activity. Logging more than 8,000 volunteer hours, the roughly 30 men of the unpaid unit continue to be one of the largest and most active in all of Nassau. Police Commissioner Thomas Dale and the top police brass came together to hail these accomplishments.
Our community should be proud of Captain Gluck and all the unit’s officers. Thank you for all you do; the entire Five Towns is better because of your activism and your excellent performance in the line of duty.
