LIRR To Suspend All Branches Due To Heavy Snow, Strong Winds
All trains are expected to reach their final terminals by 8 a.m. on Saturday.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Anticipating major problems with a serious nor'easter getting itself together in the Atlantic Ocean, the MTA is suspending all branches of the Long Island Railroad.
By 8 a.m. Saturday, all trains will be in the final terminals, the MTA said in a statement.
The storm could bring at least a foot of snow and strong gusts to Long Island on Saturday.

Customers are encouraged to check the LIRR Train Time app, MYmta app or new.mta.info for details on times for the final trains.
The restarting of service is uncertain, as an MTA spokesperson said, "It really depends on the weather."

Those who do travel before the suspension are urged to give themselves extra time and use caution on the station platforms and staircases.
Waiting rooms will remain open around the clock throughout the weekend.
