Long Beach Obtains $90K State Grant For Waterfront Revitalization
The City will use the funds to hire a consultant to develop a program to help with environmental protection projects.
LONG BEACH, NY – New York state provided the City of Long Beach with a $90,100 grant to hire a consultant for environmental-related projects.
The state’s Department of State Local Waterfront Revitalization Program Plan approved the grant allowing a consultant to help develop a waterfront revitalization program for Long Beach.
The grant requires a 15 percent local city matched valued at $15,900, “which can be provided through in-kind services (staff and volunteer time),” according to the agenda item.

John McNally, a spokesman for the city, said the grant creates a process in which developers, the city or other agencies, including the MTA, to go through to ensure projects are environmentally-friendly to the city, according to the Long Beach Herald.
McNally said an update to the city’s comprehensive on zoning and planning would probably be completed by the end of 2022 and before hiring the consultant, the Herald reports.
