Over the past few days, Long Beach Patch has been inundated with calls, e-mails, texts and Facebook messages from friends and family members seeking information on loved ones.
Here's what we know:
There is no cell service, water or power in Long Beach right now. Try texting, as some messages might get through.
The National Guard distributed food and water to residents Wednesday.
The National Guard, New York State Police, Nassau County Police and Long Beach Police are patrolling the streets to prevent crime and looting. Upon trying to access Long Beach, visitors must provide identification to NYS Police.
Additionally, a 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew has been implemented.
"We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to curfew," Long Beach Police Commissioner Michael Tangney added.
Several residents have been relocated to a shelter. Here are some resources to try and locate them:
- Nassau County's non-emergency hotline at 1-888-684-4274
