Loop Pkwy. Drawbridge Locked Due to Power Loss
State Dept. of Transportation operating the bridge via generator.

The Loop Parkway drawbridge on Wednesday was stuck in the upright position for about 45 minutes, between about 5:15 and 6:30 p.m., due to insufficient electrical power as Long Island Power Authority performed work at the structure.
According to the New York State Department of Transportation, which has jurisdiction of the bridge, the department was operating the bridge via a generator while LIPA performed work on the bridge.
“LIPA then restored power to the bridge but the bridge lacked sufficient power to lock down,” said Eileen Peters, a NYSDOT spokesperson. “NYSDOT has been operating the bridge via generator until the LIPA power issue is addressed.”
