March 4: Kids Cancer Fundraiser, ARRP Meeting, Movie Times

Another week of work and school will soon pass and you’re already looking ahead to the weekend. Not so fast! You still have all day Friday, so find out what’s going on in Long Beach today:

1. Cookies for Kids' Cancer will hold a series of bake sales on Mar. 4, 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following real estate offices: Petrey Real Estate: 860 W. Beech St., Petrey East: 254 E. Park Ave., Petrey Atlantic Beach: 2041 Park St. This bake sale is in loving memory of Liam Witt, who fought a difficult battle against cancer, and Kyle James Williams, who is still fighting the disease.

2. The Nassau and Suffolk Firefighter Department's will host a rant night at Minnesota's Grill & Bar on West Beech Street from 5 to 11 p.m. All of the proceeds for the event go to the Nassau County Firefighters' Burn Center Foundation.

3. The Oscars have passed you’re eager to see the Best Picture winner? Long Beach Cinema 4 on East Park Avenue will show The Kings Speech (R) at 12:20, 3:15, 6, 8:45. Other movies and times are: Unknown (PG-13) 12:30, 3, 5:45, 8:15; Just Go With It (PG-13) 12:10, 2:45, 5:30, 8:30; Rango (PG) 12, 2:30, 5, 7:30.

4. The Long Beach Chapter of AARP will hold their monthly meeting starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Magnolia Senior Center.
