May 16: Chamber of Commerce Meets, Youngsters Write, Daily Queries

It’s Monday and that means Patch returns with five things you need to know each weekday. What’s the buzz around town? We’ll keep you informed about the important meetings, high school playoff games, fundraisers around town and stories you may have overlooked. Here’s what’s happing today:

1. The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce will hold their monthly meeting at Avenue Café on West Park Avenue at 7 p.m. City Council member Len Torres is a guest speaker.

2. The first of two Young Writers Workshops at the Long Beach Library will start at 5:30 p.m. This program is for children in grades 2 and up and focuses on a selected theme for children to write about.

3. East End residents, listen up! Remember that sanitation pickup is each Monday and Thursday in your neighborhoods, and citywide recycling is every Wednesday. So put your garbage curbside this morning.
