New Principal Named By Island Park School District
Shannon Malagreca has been appointed principal of Francis X. Hegarty Elementary School.
ISLAND PARK, NY — The Island Park School District has appointed Shannon Malagreca as principal of Francis X. Hegarty Elementary School.
Malagreca brings extensive education experience to Island Park. Most recently, she served as assistant (and acting) principal at PS 457 in the Bronx.
She also worked as a literary consultant for Generation Ready, where she supported school principals in leadership practices and helped them identify school strengths.

Additionally, Malagreca has been an elementary school teacher on Long Island. She has a pair of master's degrees, including one in school building leadership from the College of New Rochelle.
She officially starts at the Hegarty school on Feb. 3.
