The northbound lane of the Michael Valente Memorial Long Beach Bridge was closed from about 3 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday as police conducted a reenactment of an accident on the bridge last weekend, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
During the reenactment, the southbound lane was opened to two-way traffic, and traffic was backed up on Long Beach Boulevard in Long Beach and Lawson Boulevard in Island Park and surrounding streets.
On Saturday, Freddy Flamberg of Long Beach was arrested and charged with reckless driving and third-degree assault after he struck an on-duty Long Beach motorcycle police officer on the bridge, City Manager Charles Theofan said.

Flamberg was also charged with a vehicle and traffic violation for not yielding to an emergency vehicle as per the Ambrose-Searles Move Over Act, according to LBPD Detective Lt. James Canner.
The officer had pulled over a Toyota Corolla in the northbound right lane on the bridge at approximately 3:45 p.m. While the officer was conducting the stop, Flamberg hit him on his side with his black Honda, police said.
