Question of the Day: What Bridge Do You Take?

Weigh in with your thoughts on this topic.

There are just three routes motorists can take to and from Long Beach island: Michael Valenti Memorial Long Beach Bridge, Loop Parkway and Atlantic Beach Bridge.

The Long Beach Bridge is central and perhaps the route motorists use most, depending on where they are heading to or coming from on Long Island’s mainland. But then there’s the heavy traffic you are likely to hit on Austin Boulevard in Island Park and especially Long Beach Road in Oceanside when headed to northern Nassau County.

The Loop Parkway is always an option, especially if you’re going out east. But at times, particularly on a beautiful summer day when boaters are out on the bays, you may want to avoid stopping for the drawbridge there.

Heading to work in New York City or on vacation to Europe? The Atlantic Beach Bridge offers the most direct route to Queens, Brooklyn and the other boroughs, as well as to JFK Airport. But maybe you don’t care to pay its toll on a daily basis or at all.

Answer this question in the comments: What route do you prefer to take in and out of Long Beach and why?
