Road Improvement Earmarked for Long Beach Blvd.

Part of the county's $3.9 million investment to improve traffic flow and safety.

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano announced on Tuesday the investment of $3.9 million in capital funds for the resurfacing of eight roads throughout the county, including Long Beach, to help ease traffic congestion and improve safety.

“Our goal is to improve roads while easing traffic and improving safety,” Mangano said. “The mobility of our residents and freight transportation would be negatively affected without these much needed repairs to our roads.”

  • Long Beach Boulevard, between East Pine Street and East Park Avenue in Long Beach
  • Demott Avenue, between Grand Avenue and Long Beach Road in Baldwin
  • Long Beach Road (shoulders), between Demott Avenue and Seaman Avenue in Baldwin
  • Merchants Concourse, between Stewart Avenue and Corporate Drive in East Garden City
  • Corona Avenue, between Hendrickson Avenue and Southern State Parkway in Valley Stream
  • Salisbury Park Drive, between Carman Avenue and Newbridge Road in Westbury
  • North Jerusalem Avenue, between Gardiners Avenue and Loring Road in Levittown
  • Gardiners Avenue, between North Jerusalem Avenue and Halter Lane in Levittown

Nassau County is now accepting bids from outside contractors to perform this work. The county expects to begin roadwork in February and the anticipated completion date is April 2012.
