Scenes in the City: Monuments and Memorials

Have a look at some snapshots we took around Long Beach.

Here at Patch's Lens on Long Beach photo column, we aim to capture slices of the many diverse scenes throughout the city. Sometimes we set out with a theme in mind or discover one among our many snapshots; other times our columns consist of just random but nevertheless interesting shots.

Today's column focuses on a few of the many monuments and memorials in the city, from the boardwalk to a parking mall to the bay. Some are devoted to casualties of war, whether of World War I or September 11, while others are simply dedicated to loved ones, both living and dead.

If you have photos of city scenes that you would like us to consider for our twice-weekly Lens on Long Beach column, please email them — along with descriptive captions — to josephk@patch.com. Photos must be sent with the photographer's permission.
