Sound Off: Police Foot Patrols in West End
What time is best for officers to walk beats in Long Beach's busiest nighttime neighborhood? Answer in the comments.

Back in July, officials from called for foot-patrol officers on weekends in their bar-studded neighborhood, and the police department reportedly committed officers to walk beats from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on West Beech Street and surrounding areas.
At least week’s WENCA meeting, though, civic association officials said that they thought it would be better if the foot officers patrolled later in the evening, from midnight to 3 a.m. They reported that the LBPD told them patrols during those hours are budgeted as overtime and come with extra costs that the city will not incur now. WENCA officials suggested that the officers could instead get out of their cars and patrol on foot during the start and end of their eight-hour shifts.
What are your thoughts on police officers patrolling on foot during the wee hours of weekend mornings instead of much earlier in the evening? Let us know in the comments below.
