Swimmer Rescued in Long Beach
The Fourth of July began with a dramatic water rescue in Long Beach.

The Fourth of July began in Long Beach with an early morning water rescue in Ocean Beach Park.
Long Beach Fire Department rushed to the shoreline near Long Beach Road at 6:02 a.m. Saturday for a call about a distressed swimmer, LBFD wrote on Facebook. Responders located the victim, who was in distress and “was spotted dangerously close to the rocks,” officials said.
LBFD Captain Jacobi and Long Beach Police Officers Rooney and Henck dove into the water and successfully rescued the swimmer, officials said.

Paramedics were on hand to treat the swimmer, who declined to be brought to a hospital, LBFD said.
