Hempstead Town public information officials confirmed to Patch that the water is safe to drink and use in Lido Beach and Point Lookout.
"In fact, we walked door-to-door and placed notices on homes stating water is safe to drink," said Town Spokesperson Mike Deery.
These areas are, however, placed under a conservation request as to not exhaust the resource.
The town's turbine was swamped with salt water and running on a diesel backup.
"We have diesel power at all of our plants because of electrical outages," Deery said.
