Brooklyn Avenue School Spreads Holiday Cheer at Winter Chorus Concert
Students performed beloved holiday classics and contemporary hits
Brooklyn Avenue School in the Valley Stream 24 School District recently filled its auditorium with music, laughter and holiday spirit during its annual Winter Chorus Concert.
The festive evening opened with a special performance by eight talented students from the school’s orchestra, led by Mr. Gary Garzetta, setting the tone for an exciting celebration of the season. Music teacher Mrs. Joanna Milanese then led the chorus through a lively program of beloved holiday classics and contemporary hits. Throughout the concert, students confidently introduced each selection with brief speeches, adding a personal and engaging touch to the performance.
The festive performance included several standout moments, including a spirited rendition of “Ugly Christmas Sweater,” during which a student theatrically danced through the audience while proudly showcasing his own extravagant holiday outfit. Another highlight, “Here Comes the Snow,” concluded with students bringing the song to life by playfully throwing plush snowballs into the audience.
The evening concluded on a heartwarming note with a sing-along, as families and staff joined in on the singing. The Winter Chorus Concert was a joyful celebration of music, creativity and community, showcasing the talents of Brooklyn Avenue School students while embracing the diverse traditions of the holiday season.
