Franklin Square School District Approves Sending Infrastructure Bond Resolution To Residents
Voters will decide on the proposed $37.95 million bond on Oct. 21.

FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY â The Franklin Square School District Board of Education approved a resolution to present a capital improvement bond proposition to voters.
The proposed $37.95 million bond will address critical infrastructure, safety and facility needs across all three district buildings, as identified in a comprehensive planning process.
A community vote has been scheduled for Oct. 21, the district announced.

As part of the districtâs ongoing commitment to safe, modern and efficient learning environments, a New York State Education Department-required Building Condition Survey was completed in 2023.
Following the survey, a five-year facilities plan was developed through a detailed review of current and future district needs.

The proposed work falls into four key categories:
- Security enhancements such as upgrades to door access control systems.
- Site and accessibility improvements featuring repairs to exterior stairs, ramps and steps.
- Infrastructure repairs and upgrades including roof and window repairsand replacements, fire alarm system replacement, corridor ceiling and wall repairs and emergency lighting updates.
- HVAC and ventilation system updates to improve indoor air quality.In addition to districtwide improvements, the proposal includes the replacement of the community artificial turf and upgrades to lighting on the large athletic field located at Washington Street School.
If approved by voters, the project will be financed through the issuance of bonds and eligible for New York State Building Aid, which will help offset a significant portion of the cost to local taxpayers.
