Man Threatens Female Employee With Broken Bottle During Nassau Theft: Police

The man threatened the female employee after he tried to hide items and leave a 7-Eleven without paying, police say.

FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY — A man was arrested after he threatened a female employee of 7-Eleven with a broken bottle during a theft in Franklin Square on Wednesday, Nassau police said.

Officers were called to 7-Eleven, at 850 Hempstead Turnpike, for a theft around 5:40 p.m., police said. Officers were told that Kevin Martinez, 25, had taken and hid various items before leaving the store without paying, police said. A female employee approached Martinez, who then threatened her with a broken bottle before he ran away, police said.

A short time later, officers responded and found Martinez nearby and arrested him without incident, police said.

Martinez, who is without a known address, was charged with first-degree robbery, police said.

He is set to be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court, 99 Main St., Hempstead.
