Our Lady of Peace Students Head Back to School

Students at Our Lady of Peace School in Lynbrook celebrated their first day of school on Wednesday, September 4.

Located at 21 Fowler Avenue, the school hosts students from nursery school to eighth grade. Our Lady of Peace is a parish school and part of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, and has received the New York State and United States Department of Education's Awards for Excellence in Education.

"We are looking forward to another exciting year!" said parent Julie O'Connell.

The return of students includes seventh grader Mary DePinto, who returns after missing over a year of school while fighting cancer.

"We are thrilled to report that she walked into the building as a happy, healthy seventh grader after a year and a few months of intense chemotherapy, surgery to her hip and recovery from Ewing's Sarcoma," O'Connell said. "It was a beautiful sight seeing her walking and entering the building with her friends."
