Soborno Bari's parents called him a prodigy since he was two years old.

MALVERNE, NY — 12-year-old Soborno Bari has completed his education at Malverne High School and next up for the child prodigy, he'll attend New York University in the fall.
"I wouldn't call myself a child prodigy, but more someone that has a passion for learning, especially in terms of mathematics," Bari told Patch. "My parents have called me a child prodigy, certainly."
They recognized his special abilities as early as two years old teaching him basic math.

"I was trying to conceptualize what would be beyond these concepts," he said.
Bari struggled during the remote learning of the pandemic while his family living in the Bronx.

"That was really the most disengaging thing for me," Bari said. "When it online and I actually had the freedom to just walk out of the classroom at any point, I just turned my camera off and did something else that I thought was better."
To start the fourth grade, Bari's family moved to Lynbrook. He would have attend Davison Avenue Intermediate School, but an assessment school officials to accelerate Bari's education. It was determined he was at a 12th-grade level, but it was decided not to start him as high school senior.
"They were very concerned for my socio-emotional development," he said.
Instead, he would split his day between 8th-grade classes and 4th grade,"so I could interact with people my age."
The incoming college freshman, who has a YouTube page where he teaches math and science, is already thinking about his future.
"Maybe I'll work [at NYU] for a short time because they have some good resources for research," Bari said. "I really want to help these small universities that don't have the resources."
