Blakeman Governor Rumors Linger As County Executive Stumps Upstate: Report
U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik is the current frontrunner for the Republican nomination in 2026, reports say.

MASSAPEQUA, NY. — Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman is stumping in multiple counties in the Hudson Valley and Capitol Region Thursday amid lingering rumors that the Republican could run for Governor of New York in 2026, the New York Post reported.
Polls quoted in that report say Blakeman would have an outside chance at securing the GOP nomination in the race, as U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik currently holds key endorsements within the party. The trips upstate will also bring Blakeman to Stefanik's home turf in the North Country, the Post said, as he gauges support for his potential run for governor.
Blakeman won reelection as Nassau County Executive convincingly on Nov. 4, dispatching of County Legislator Seth Koslow by 12 points.
