Kennedy Picks Up Victory In 19th District Reelection Effort
The County Legislator defeated Lynn Russo.

MASSAPEQUA, NY. — County Legislator James Kennedy received 14,263 votes in Tuesday’s election, placing him firmly ahead of Democrat challenger Lynn Russo in the legislature’s 19th district. Russo received 5,351 votes, equivalent to 27.28 percent of the vote, while Kennedy’s over-14,000 votes equated to 72.7 percent of votes cast, according to unofficial results from the Nassau County Board of Elections.
The son of Irish immigrants, Kennedy will join 10 other Republicans in the majority when the new county legislature takes office in January. Among the causes outlined in his county legislature bio that Kennedy plans to fight for are stopping a rise in property taxes and eradicating drugs from Nassau County streets.
